After Care Instructions for Your Paint Protection Film

To extend the life and looks of your new paint protection and to maintain your warranty coverage, DO NOT wash or wax your vehicle for a minimum of 3 days following product installation.

What to Expect:

Our paint protection film is installed with water and mild soap, therefore you can expect to see water (which may look like bubbles) under the film for the first 3-5 days. After the dry period the water will disappear. You can expect that a supplementary touch up appointment after your paint protection installation will be necessary. In some cases this is not needed, but in most cases you can also anticipate that certain edges of your film may start to come up after they dry out. This is not something to be concerned with and is completely normal, please avoid touching the edge of the film or trying to push it down. Our installers take great care in drying out the edges of the film as much as possible while your vehicle is our possession, but nothing substitutes the curing that continues to happen with the natural sun. Our team will set up a supplemental appointment for the edges to be gone over approximately 1 week after your install is complete.

Recommended Cleaning and Maintenance:

Hand wash with soap and water regularly.

Hand wax once or twice a year with a non-abrasive wax for added protection.

To remove dirt or wax that has collected along the edge of the film, use a cleaner or alcohol on a microfiber towel and clean the edge of the film.

In order to prevent staining remove bird droppings, bugs, tree sap, etc. from the film in a timely manner.

Paint Protection Film has a proprietary top coat that protects the product from discoloration

If the film is neglected or is exposed to extreme situations a slight discoloration can occur.

If discoloration occurs the recommended step is to:

Use a mild-abrasive wax and polish the surface of the film to restore the original appearance (ex: Turtle Wax Renew Light)

Polishing/buffing of the film is a great way to remove contaminants from the surface, however this process should be limited to as-needed or once every 12- 18 months

Common FAQS:

Can I wax my Matte Paint Protection Film?

Some waxes will add a level of gloss to Matte paint protection film. However, there are waxes on the market specifically for matte finishes. Waxing is still recommended for added protection.

Can I take my car through a pressure wash with Paint Protection Film?

It is best practice to wait 3 days before washing your car. While hand washing is preferred, you can use a pressure wash, but be careful near edges as the pressure can lift the film.

Can ceramic coatings be applied to Paint Protection Film?

Ceramic coatings are approved for use with our Paint Protection Films when applied over the surface of the product. Ceramic coatings create an additional barrier for solvent and water penetration while not negatively impacting the performance or self-healing of our Paint Protection Film. This application will not void your warranty.

If there is a stain that won’t wash off, what do I do?

If a stain will not wash off with a regular car wash, you can apply 99% isopropyl alcohol to a microfiber towel and clean the stain. If the stain remains we would recommend you use a mild-abrasive wax and polish the surface of the film to restore the original appearance. Polishing/buffing of the film is a great way to remove contaminants from the surface, however this process should be limited to as-needed or once every 12- 18 months. An example of a mild-abrasive wax would be Turtle Wax Renew RX Polishing Compound Light to Medium Cleaner.

How can I remove contaminants on the film?

Detailing Clay can be used to remove contaminants that are on the film.
